Fit 2 Excel is moving their functional strength and conditioning boot camp indoors for the season. Join us at the Athletic Club of Vermont in Essex Junction for a great full body workout. These one hour sessions are designed to inmprove your strength and fitness through whole body exercises using weights and other methods. Each class will include strength training circuits, core work and cardio.

Learn how to wear, walk and climb in crampons, use an ice tool in a variety of ways, belay, and of course climb on ice! The day will begin by top-roping on low-angle ice and will move into steeper terrain. Learn the basic techniques to make it victoriously to the top.
Fuel yourself with the Power Yoga at Montpelier's newest fitness center. Join Instructor Laura Bozarth for the Primary Series of Ashtanga (Power) Yoga, a vigorous class building strength, balance and flexibility through a set 90 minute sequence of poses.
The 29th Annual Prouty Bike Ride and Challenge Walk is a community event in Hanover, NH that provides all individuals with an opportunity to participate. The 100 mile bike route attracts 1,000 riders, many riding a "century" for the first time, taking advantage of the "SAG stops" every 10 miles and full bike support. Families often ride together on the shorter routes of 20, 35 or 50 miles.

Join other adventurous women March 12-14, 2010 at the Hulbert Outdoor Center in Fairlee, VT! Women ages 18 and up can stay in heated cabins at night and play in the snow all day. Classes in Winter skills from Snowmobiling to Nordic skiing and will be held Saturday and Sunday for a modest fee. Stay overnight or come for just the day! Winter Doe Camp is sure to have something for everyone.
The best free riders in the east and beyond will gather at Killington's Stash to take advantage of the natural terrain and all the creative elements the mountain has to offer. Riders will be rewarded for picking the best lines and nailing the best tricks on rock jibs, log rides, rainbow trees, giant Shreddies and jibbable buildings.
Carl Johnson, a great friend to Great Glen Trails and a lover of all things skiing, passed away in 2006 of ALS. This fun race is held in his honor with all proceeds benefiting ALS research. The race will also feature an ALS benefit raffle. 1:30pm start time.
Registration: $20 DOR and a minimum of $50.00 in pledges.

SCA will be hosting Aerie Backcountry Medicine for a Wilderness First Responder course from March 13-21, 2010. Aerie's 72-hour WFR course is designed for outdoor professionals and outdoor enthusiasts, preparing them to care for injuries and illness in remote, challenging environments. The course is fast-paced, challenging, hands-on and fun.
Mansfield Athletics Pole Vault Club is providing a spring vault program open to all athletes (Male or Female) 12 years and up, from first timers to accomplished vaulters. The club is a USATF certified pole vault club (USATF Club # 309). The spring program will be hosted at The University of Vermont's Gutterson Field House.
Backcountry Ski Adventure
Saturday, March 13, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Our nine individual snowshoe races are collectively organized as a series. Each race has it's own race director and event management. Individual and team points will be awarded for each race using a very simple scoring system. And back by popular demand...any competitor who races in all nine GSSS races will earn a coveted series winter hat awarded at the GSS Championship in March.
Take the Catamount Challenge and tour or race from the Trapp Family Lodge to the Bolton Valley Nordic Center. The 17 km route is 70% backcountry and 30% on groomed trails. Participants will climb 2300 vertical ft from Nebraska Notch to the highest point on the Catamount Trail and descend 1300 ft to the Bolton Valley Nordic Center.

Over the course of four years, Margy Holden and Cathy Frank paddles the entire shoreline of Lake Champlain, a journey of over 650 miles. They observed water conditions, wildlife, geological features, people, and shoreline development and came to appreciate the lake's beauty, geography, and historical significance.

Suicide Six is hosting, Telemark Groove, a spring festival with live music, BBQ, demos, and lessons. For $30 you get: all day lift ticket, live music, use of Eastern Mountain Sports and Base Camp Outfitters Demos, and a free beginner lesson at 1:30PM. Entrance into the outdoor BBQ is $8.
The Vermont Ski Museum and Suicide Six will host the Vermont Antique Ski Race, a fundraiser for the Museum. This is your chance to dust off those old wood skis, your VR17s, or your Rossi Stratos and compete against Vermont’s finest. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, March 20th at Suicide Six in Woodstock, Vermont.

Back to Smuggs for a second year! Smugglers' three mountains are a regional competition site for this fun and physical challenge featuring teams of two taking on big mountains across the US. Teams negotiate mountain checkpoints in a three-hour course and are tracked by FLAIK GPS systems. Winners go on to finals at Aspen. Sign up for a team or spectate and cheer the Smuggs teams on!
The fundraising marathon consists of a 6-hour ride led by a group of professional instructors from around the country. The instructors guide riders through a dynamic 6-hour event with live music, instructor mixes, hourly raffles, countdowns to each hour, and a cool down period which is followed by a celebration luncheon.

Celebrate the sweet taste of maple syrup during this annual event, when sugarmakers open their doors to visitors, with tours and an array of maple products for sale. Participate in a 5K and 10K race to celebrate the start of spring. Beginning and ending at Shelburne Health & Fitness on Athletic Drive (at the Field House), the race route is weather dependent. If the weather is nice, we will be using a loop course. If winter is still hanging on, the route will be an out-and-back. Either way, the route is fantastic!
If you plan to spend time in the backcountry you need to be prepared. Fast paced and hands-on, this two-day course covers a wide range of wilderness medicine topics for people who travel and work in the outdoors.
Okemo's tongue-in-cheek celebration of all things Joey. Whether you know them as Gapers, Front Rangers or some other regional moniker, in the Northeast it's the Joey who provides us with endless hours of entertainment with his bravado and ubiquitous sense of style. Joeys will be required to ski or ride an easy jump and a box. Big points are awarded for costume and attitude.
Now in its 30th year, the Bud Light Bear Mountain Mogul Challenge showcases the best bumpers battling it out on the steepest, longest mogul trail in the East - Outer Limits!
Join us at Essex Middle School for our sixth bi-annual 5K Run/Walk for Washington DC (and Kids Race Too!)
All Proceeds go directly to help fund our 8th graders annual trip to Washington DC.
5K Race begins at 9am and the Kid's Race begins at 9:45.
Prizes will be awarded to the first place Male and Female finishers.
