Green Mountain Club’s Eighteenth Annual
James P. Taylor Series
For one hundred years, the Long Trail has inspired Vermonters to seek adventure in the Green Mountains and beyond. The James P. Taylor Series, named after the man who first envisioned the Long Trail, brings such adventures to you through stories and photographs. Join us for inspiring presentations that will transport you to mountains and waterways near and far —a great way to spend a winter evening!
Admission is $5 members/$8 nonmembers; kids under 12 are free. Tickets available at the door only. All proceeds support GMC’s local sections and the Education Program.
More Taylor Series shows will be scheduled. Check GMC’s website, www.greenmountainclub.org, and the spring Long Trail News for additional shows.
A Journey to Newfoundland's Western Peninsula and the Labrador Straits
Jean Haigh
Friday, January 29, 7 p.m.
Meeting Hall, GMC Visitor Center, Waterbury Center
Join GMC Vice President Jean Haigh for an adventure to the near north. In the summer of 2009, Jean and her family traveled to Newfoundland’s Western Peninsula and the Labrador Straits. Here they found a landscape of ancient rock, remote mountains, and stark beauty, interspersed with sightings of whales, icebergs, and numerous ponds, bogs, and moose. Join Jean for an evening of slides and stories about one of the most pristine corners of North America – the “New Found Land.”
