TREW to You Film Project, Season 4 - 30 min

We are excited to host a screening of all four films that make up season 4 of Trew Apparel’s Film project series. Four selected crews spent 12 weeks filming and 12 weeks editing their projects (totaling 24 weeks). At the end of the tour, a winning film will be selected and the crew will receive a $15k grant for their next project. Here is the four film lineup for season 4!

“Theory of Butta” follows two rambunctious gals on a backcountry quest with one goal in mind: to find the ‘Butta', the source of eternal fame, power, and glorious steeze.

“Senderos” is centered around winter in the Southwest - where desert and snow meet, and the pace feels a little slower - Senderos follows a group of riders finding their own way through the season, from quiet resort days to backcountry pockets and everything in between.

“Scribble” follows east coast skier and artist Noah Ball as he seeks inspiration for his art and his skiing in New York's Adirondack Mountains.

“Forecast Her” asks the question: what does it mean to carry responsibility for other people’s safety in an environment you can’t control?

Beyond The Summit - 34 min

In April 2022, POW Athlete Alliance member, Kit DesLauriers and her self-supported team traveled across a portion of Alaskaʼs Coastal Plain, which is currently planned to have seismic oil and gas exploration. During their journey, the team conducted snow depth measurements in a citizen science based approach to help determine if actual snow depths are in the cited range for acceptable oil exploration by the BLM in their Record of Decision. Based on DesLauriersʼ previous travels across the Coastal Plain, her hypothesis is that the snow depths found will not meet the stated minimum of either a nine inch average, or three inches over the highest tussocks. During the expedition, DesLauriers and her team also made the first ski descent of the second highest mountain in the Brooks Range, Mt. Hubley, making DesLauriers the first person to ski the five highest mountains in the United States Arctic.

Shaped By Land - 16 min

Shaped by Land is a short documentary following Adam Kjeldsen, one of the only local ski guides in Greenland, as he builds a career on his own terms in an industry largely dominated by foreign operators. Filmed on location in Greenland with a Greenlandic crew, the film explores what sustainable, community-rooted adventure tourism can look like when it’s led by someone who calls the place home.

The film has screened at Banff Mountain Film Festival, Kendal Mountain Film Festival, Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, Mountainfilm in Telluride, and won a Jury Award at the Anchorage International Film Festival. Alongside its online release, Shaped by Land is running an impact campaign with proceeds going directly to the Greenlandic Ski Federation — supporting the next generation of local skiers and guides.
